has vacancy for the position of
RECTOR OF THE INSTITUTE
1. Objective of the Position
The vision of the Institute is to be a pace-setting academic and pastoral institution (university) that trains Christian workers and leaders for effective mission, primarily in the African and other contexts. The Rector, as the overall administrative and academic head of the Institute (Chief Executive Officer), is expected to lead it, under the guidance of the Council, to achieve its vision.
2. Key Roles & Responsibilities
The Rector shall:
a. Visionary leader
Lead the Institute to achieve its vision in a sustainable way.
b. Administrative/Academic Head
As the overall administrative and academic head, advise the Institute Council, the Academic Board and the Management Committee on matters affecting policy, finance, governance and administration of the Institute. He/she shall also be the chief disciplinary officer of the Institute and ensure that it operates efficiently and effectively.
c. Chief Public Relations Officer
Represent the Institute as the “Chief Public Relations Officer” internally (to the ACI Community) and externally (to all its stakeholders and the general public nationally and internationally).
d. Chief Fundraiser
Be able to lead ACI locally and internationally to raise funds (resources) needed for its effective functioning.
3. Job Requirements
a. Mature Christian with high integrity and a sense of responsibility, who understands and is committed to the Institute’s vision, aims and objectives.
b. Ability to motivate and give leadership to staff of the Institute.
c. A seasoned academic with proven leadership capabilities. Only persons of the grade of Associate Professor/Professor may be considered.
Please note that applicants who are not of the professorial grade may be considered only if they have qualified for appointment as Associate Professor.
